My Sister?

So I’ve decided to be different, to change. On Monday, I called my brother Michael:

Ring. Hello?

Hi, Mike. It’s Nancy. Voice cracks.

Ya, Nance. How you doin’?

I’m good. Voice cracks. I’m just callin’ to see how you’re doin’.

What? My sister Nancy? You’re callin’ to see how I’m doin’?

Ya, Mike. I just feel bad that I never call, so I thought I’d call.

Have you been drinkin’?

Laughing. No! I haven’t been drinkin’!

Well, I’m doin’ fine, Nance. What about you?

Voice cracking. I’m not doing so hot. Crying.

Why? What’s the matter?

I feel bad about Danny.

Oh, there’s nothin’ you can do about that.

Struggling for words. Well, is it okay if I just call you once in awhile to see how you’re doin’?

Voice smiling. Ya, Nance, you call any time.

It was kind of rough, but it’s a start. Sending cards might be easier.

Thinking of you Nancy. It was a good start. Sometimes cards are easier but you did the harder thing and called. That is good.

Hi Nancy. I know your pain for I too have been thru it. It does not go away quickly, unfortunately, time, prayers and reflections help…If you get a chance and have the time seek out a grief ministry at a nearby church…over a period of two years it did help me to move beyond my deep grief, however something can happen and for brief moment it returns and reminds us of our loss.
Sometimes the loss of a brother or sister can be as sorrowful as losing a spouse or a mom or father…..Mary and I share your grief and you are included in our Lenten prayers and daily mass.
good luck and may Our Lord give you His Mercy to carry on…
God Bless you and Tim and your family……Joe Z

He’s always my go to when I need to talk! Even though he is a man of few words, he has a way of reassuring and calming me down! Love him and you so much! Xoxo
